The Harris Federation is a not-for-profit academy chain with over 40 primary and secondary academies in and around London. They have built a reputation for excellence with every single academy receiving an OFSTED rating of Good or Outstanding. Harris Academy Tottenham is their brand new all-through school, catering to both primary and secondary students. They needed a flexible, integrated surveillance system to ensure the safety of pupils and staff. Redstone's experience in integrated IP networks saw us initially chosen to install a small IP surveillance system for the primary school. As the school began its expansion, however, the project's scale grew significantly. The surveillance network needed to cover three additional buildings over a 500m perimeter as well as two outdoor play areas. The video management system and storage would also need to be upgraded to support not only this expansion, but upcoming requirements as the academy grows.
Widening the net
We carried out a full site survey including full coverage plans. Avoiding signal and visual blindspots was crucial.
As a result, we upgraded the DVTEL Latitude video management system to comfortably handle this rollout, as well as all future planned expansions. To give the Harris Federation complete peace of mind, we also upgraded video storage to 28TB.
To cope with a much larger perimeter to be secured, we installed 27 high definition IP video cameras and two panoramic cameras to cover the large play areas.
Top of the class
With the security and safety of pupils supported by a powerful, future-proof video management system, the Harris Federation are able to concentrate on what they do best: delivering exceptional academic results.
